3rd annual Thanksgiving charity run held in Croton

Spencer Field in Croton was packed this morning with some 500 people working off Thanksgiving dinner calories in advance while raising money for a good cause. Cheryl Slaughter says four years ago, her daughter, Jessica, had open-heart surgery. The Slaughters were so thankful the surgery was successful that they wanted to give back, so they created an annual 1-mile run to raise money for the American Heart Association. Jessica Slaughter says knowing that her family, friends, and community support her is the thing she's most grateful for this Thanksgiving. Organizers say last year's run raised $7,000 for the American Heart Association, and they're hoping that today's event surpassed that figure.
