Quieter, yet still busy for shoppers in Yorktown

The crowds may have been smaller at the Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown compared to other nearby shopping centers, but people still showed up to get a headstart on their holiday shopping. Macy's opened at midnight, and other stores in the mall followed soon after.

Shoppers say they prefer going to Jefferson Valley, as it doesn't get as overwhelming and crowded as other places in the area such as Woodbury Commons. With shopping more manageable, it made for an easy Black Friday for those taking advantage of their day off.

Retailers in the mall were also happy with the turnout, with the assistant manager from Gymboree saying she was pleased with all the shoppers who were drawn in by the big sales.
