65-foot tall tree to be centerpiece of Tuckahoe Winterfest

A freshly cut 65-foot tall Norway spruce is on its way to be the centerpiece of Tuckahoe Village's Winterfest celebration.

Mayor Steve Ecklond was on hand today as the tree was cut down from Anthony DeCintio's front yard on Winter Hill Road. DeCintio says he doesn't know exactly how old the tree is but says it was here when he moved into the home in1958.

DeCintio says it would have cost him thousands of dollars to cut it down himself. Instead, the costs were covered by the Generoso Pope Foundation. A local landscaper also donated their services, and DPW crews did the work.

The tree lighting will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m.
