Yonkers seminary to train BK, LI priests

A Yonkers seminary is scheduled to take on a larger role training priests after announcing a merger with two seminaries from Brooklyn and Long Island. St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers will converge with the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, as well as the Diocese of Brooklyn. Church officials say the merging of the three dioceses will provide a better educational setting for seminarians given the declining number of men seeking to become Catholic priests. The move is expected to take place in the fall of 2012.
