Police: Young boy struck by car in Yonkers

A young boy is recovering after police say he was hit by a drunken driver on a dead-end street last night.

Officials say the 9-year-old boy, identified as Michael, was on Buena Vista Avenue around 8 p.m. when the he was struck by a vehicle that neighbors say was speeding.

The boy was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center with head injuries and a possible broken arm, but is expected to recover, according to authorities.

Police say the driver, who has yet to be identified, has been charged with driving while intoxicated.
