Hundreds turn out for Yonkers 84th Columbus Day parade

It was a sea of red, white and green as hundreds turned out to celebrate the Yonkers 84th Columbus Day parade.

From the vibrant young school children to those who've been attending for decades, it was a day of celebrating Italian heritage along the parade route on Seminary Avenue.

Missing this year were the marching bands from the Yonkers School District. The bands were cut in the recent budget crisis, but there was still plenty of entertainment to go around.

Parade goers say the best part of the day is being able to celebrate the rich culture with the community.
