Exec. Astorino blames Democrats for high property taxes

County Executive Rob Astorino (R-Westchester) is blaming the County Board's Democratic majority for residents' high property taxes. Astorino made the claim yesterday as he endorsed 13 Republicans running for spots on the County Board. He said the Democrats' veto-proof supermajority has blocked needed tax reforms, leaving county residents with the most expensive property taxes in the nation. "An affordable Westchester is a healthy Westchester," Astorino said. Despite the Democrats' stronghold, however, County Board Chairman Ken Jenkins (D) says additional Republican board members would not automatically give Astorino the support he needs. All 17 board seats will be open in the November election, but four current members, including Chariman Jenkins, are running unopposed.County Exec. Astorino hopes to create a 'healthy Westchester'
