Newest branch of Riverwalk project opens in Tarrytown

Westchester residents looking to spend some time outdoors may be happy to hear of a newly completed trail along the Hudson River. The newest segment of the Westchester Riverwalk project has opened in Tarrytown, officials say. The trail is marked with signs describing the ecology and history of the area. The $7.2 million project is designed to bring more people to the waterfront from Yonkers to Peekskill. When completed, Riverwalk will mirror the Hudson River, spanning 14 different communities through a series of trails, paved paths and boardwalks.

The route will link up to village centers, historic sites and public parks, officials say.
