Ex-Mayor Davis named winner of Mt. Vernon primary

More than three weeks after voters headed to the polls for primaries, Mount Vernon finally has an official winner in the race for City Hall.Former Mayor Ernie Davis was certified by the Board of Elections today as the winner of the Democratic mayoral primary. Davis beat out City Comptroller Maureen Walker by 101 votes, but the battle for the mayorship is not over. Walker says her name will appear on the ballot next month on the Conservative line.
