Yonkers police search for bank robbery suspect

Yonkers police are on the hunt for a man who busted into a bank this morning and robbed the place at gunpoint.

The crime happened at the Key Bank at 2500 Central Park Ave. just after it opened at 9 a.m.

Police say the robber went into the bank, announced a holdup and displayed a silver hand gun. He then took several employees back to the vault.

Investigators say the robber, who got away with a bundle of cash, took off on foot down Central Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s or 40s, with a mustache and beard. He was wearing a black leather jacket, black dress pants, a tie with white stripes and a New York Yankees cap.

No one was hurt during the robbery and police believe the suspect was working alone. Police say this is the city's third attempted bank holdup in two weeks.
