Yorktown police probe string of car break-ins

Police in Yorktown say they're investigating a rash of car break-ins in the area. About 20 burglaries have been reported, and the robbers have made off with cell phones, GPS devices and other electronics, police say. In some of the instances, the thieves targeted unlocked cars parked inside condo complexes. The break-ins have been concentrated in the Shrub Oak and Mohegan Lake neighborhoods, according to police. Investigators say they're hoping fingerprints lifted from some of the cars will lead to an arrest. Meanwhile, they're urging residents to remove valuables from their vehicles and make sure to lock up.
