New Rochelle man commits suicide in prison

A New Rochelle man who was convicted and sentenced to prison for killing his ex-girlfriend in 2005 has committed suicide in prison.

Frank Rizzo was serving a 25-year to life sentence for killing his ex-girlfriend, Carmela Lapuma, in 2005. Rizzo held her hostage in her Yonkers home, demanding she give back $60,000 in cash and jewelry he gave her before they broke up. He then shot and killed her.

Rizzo was also a prime suspect in the disappearance of his first wife, Isabel, but was never convicted due to lack of evidence.
