Police: Dad may have shot daughter because she left home

Police say a New Rochelle woman's decision to move out of her father's home may have led him to shoot his daughter before turning the gun on himself.

According to investigators, 34-year-old Miosotis Monegro had been living with her father, 61-year-old Alfredo Monegro, in Manhattan until about three months ago, when she left and moved in with her brothers in New Rochelle. Police say the move infuriated her father.

Yesterday, Monegro was on her way to work in Manhattan when police say her father confronted her at the corner of Memorial Highway and Station Plaza just before 8 a.m. After a brief argument, Alfredo Monegro allegedly pulled a gun and shot his daughter in the face before killing himself.

Miosotis Monegro is now fighting for her life at Westchester Medical Center.
