2 arrested in Mount Vernon bank robbery

Mount Vernon police say a local bank was robbed this afternoon, the seventh such heist in the county in the past two months.

Eyewitnesses say several men entered Capital One Bank on East First Street at about 1 p.m., demanded money and took off running.

It's not clear how much money the suspects made off with, or if anyone got hurt in the robbery, but police say they arrested two men shortly after it happened.

During the recent rash of bank robberies, branches have been hit in Yonkers, New Rochelle, White Plains, Rye and Mount Kisco, police say. Police probe robbery at Webster Bank in Rye
