Toll booth operator prevents truck from bursting into flames
A toll booth operator along the New York State Thruway in Yonkers is being credited with preventing a bad situation from getting worse.
Officials say a truck carrying brand new cars had smoke coming from the back of the truck. The toll operator told the driver, who was able to pull over just before the smoke turned to flames.
It happened at around 6:30 a.m. at the toll booth by Stew Leonards.
The Ardsley Fire Department chief says it looks like the fire started after the left rear tire locked up.
