Job fair held in Yonkers for adult students

More than a dozen top local companies, including Home Depot, Avon and Shop-Rite, turned out for a job fair today at the offices of the adult education program Yonkers Pathways to Success.

Pathways officials say events such as these are crucial in helping students succeed. Over the past couple of years, more than 100 students from the program have been hired directly from job fairs.

"It's our responsibility as part of the academic training to also encourage employment," says Pathways Adult Education Director Joan O'Gorman.

Some of the other companies that turned out for today's event included Empire City Casino, Stew Leonard's and the Yonkers Fire Department.
