Family of 4 found dead in apparent murder-suicide

A family of four is dead in Northern Westchester in an apparent murder-suicide.

Police say Sam Friedlander, his wife, Amy, and their two children, Molly, 10, and 8 year-old Gregory were found dead in their home on Lambert Ridge Road in Cross River.

A neighbor tells News 12 that family and friends became concerned yesterday when they didn't hear from Amy.

Police were contacted and when they arrived at the house Tuesday afternoon, they found Amy and the two children dead upstairs.

The neighbor says police then found Sam Friedlander dead in the basement from self-inflicted shotgun wounds.

Police think the murder-suicide occurred Monday night.

Friends say the Friedlanders were going through a contentious divorce and that Amy was trying to evict her husband from the home.
