Octoberfest gives Yonkers some 'oompah'

Tasty food and good music were part of the first annual "55+ Octoberfest."

The event was held at the Beczak Environmental Education Center on Alexander Street in Yonkers.

The event raised money to fund education programs so area children can to learn more about the Hudson River and its history.

Festival-goers sampled sausages, sauerkraut and potato salad and German beer.
