Yonkers woman's bad day turns around with winning lotto ticket

Sept. 30, 2011 started off as a bad day for one Yonkers woman, but her luck soon turned around with a trip to the stationary store.

Lori Tangredi says she forgot her breakfast at home that day, so the 46-year-old marketing assistant stopped into a Dunkin' Donuts for coffee and a morning bagel. With her schedule a bit off kilter, Tangredi decided to buy a "Wheel of Fortune" scratch off lottery ticket at Odell Stationary on Odell Avenue.

She admits that it was one of the best decisions she ever made: the ticket revealed that she was an instant millionaire.

The mom of two says she'll still keep her job, and has no wild plans, but one purchase she'll definitely make is a refrigerator that she's wanted for five years.

Tangredi opted to take her payout in $50,000 installments over 20 years, which works out to about $33,000 a year. She's set to get her first check today.
