Widow fighting for pension after husband dies on the job
For Theresa Perry, the pain of losing her husband has been compounded as the state has refused to pay her the benefits from his pension.
White Plains police officer Michael Perry died from a heart attack suffered after processing a suspect at police headquarters in connection with a mall theft.
Officials claim the pension benefits were denied because the death was not "in the line of duty."
Perry says that the benefits would mean their twin sons could have a college education and a roof over their heads.
She says that she will be filing an appeal in the case.
