Mayoral candidate accuses Yonkers cop of overtime abuse

At least one Yonkers police officer is abusing the overtime system, according to the Independence party's mayoral candidate Carlo Calvi. Making the claim last night during News 12 Westchester's mayoral debate, Calvi said he has direct knowledge of the allegations.

During a discussion of police overtime padding during the debate, Calvi said an unnamed police officer in Yonkers has been identified to him, who's making 50 hours week in overtime. Calvi added abuse of the system has been a big problem for the city's finances. It's not known yet if Calvi's allegation has merit.

It was revealed earlier this year that at least one Yonkers police officer retired making $300,000 due to excessive overtime.
