Sen. Schumer tours storm damage at HV farms

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) met with farmers in Orange County today to get a first-hand look at the damage caused by Tropical Storm Irene.

Flooding from the storm left many Hudson Valley farmlands completely underwater and ruined entire crops. Schumer says he's pushing for a boost in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help local farmers recover.

The senator also says he wants the U.S. Department of Agriculture to declare Orange as a disaster county, which could open up additional aid programs.
