Saw Mill River floods Yonkers neighborhood again

Residents on Clunie Avenue in Yonkers have only recently finished cleaning up the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, and this week, nature dealt them a second blow, with water the from Saw Mill River once again flooding their homes. For the past two days, neighbors have been hard at work keeping the swelling river out of their basements with sump pumps as heavy rain soaked the area. Resident Tony Mercado says everyone in the neighborhood is watching the river and hoping that it will begin receding soon. "This morning, we didn't have much rain, but it grew another 6 inches," he says.
