Biden: Obama willing to work with GOP on jobs plan

(AP)- Vice President Joe Biden says the Obamaadministration is willing to compromise with Republicans on ajob-creation program if they come up with "a better idea."

At the same time, Biden says the administration is "notprepared to compromise in terms of doing nothing." He says manyAmericans "are hanging on the edge" and Washington must help.

Biden appeared on a morning television show a day afterPresident Barack Obama proposed a nearly $450 billion program toattack chronic high unemployment.

House Republican leader Eric Cantor says he believes the GOP canwork with the Democrats to act fairly soon. Appearing with Biden onCBS's "The Early Show" Friday, the Virginia Republican also sayshis party will compromise so long as the president doesn't insiston an "all-or-nothing" approach.Obama asks deeper payroll tax cut to spur economy
