GOP primary could determine new Somers town supervisor

With no Democrat in the race for Somers town supervisor this fall, the Republican primary next week will likely decide who will take the position.

Long-time incumbent Mary Beth Murphy is seeking her eighth term in office, but she's facing stiff competition from fellow Republican Town Councilman Harold Bolton.

Bolton, a retired Verizon contracts manager and a councilman since 2009, says things are literally falling through the cracks under Murphy?s administration. Bolton pointed to the Somers police station, which is visibly in need of repair, as an example.

Murphy, however, says many town buildings, including Town Hall, are old and that fixing them takes time.

The Somers race, along with many others, will be a part of News 12 Westchester?s special Primary Vote 2011 coverage Tuesday night.
