Remembering 9/11: North Rockland H.S. Memorial

Nearly 10 years ago, 12 friends and family members of students at North Rockland High School lost their lives during the Sept. 11 attacks.

Today, hundreds gathered at the school to dedicate a memorial to the fallen.

The idea for the memorial was devised by Coach Joe Casarella and several others.

Volunteers collected money to construct the plaque, benches and trees representing the 12 who were lost.

Kayla Coughlin lost her father, who was a first responder.

"I'm hoping that my dad would be proud of me right now," Coughlin says. "I know that he would be proud of this memorial."
