Remembering 9/11: New Rochelle Memorial Flags

To honor those who died on Sept. 11, a flag was placed in front of New Rochelle City Hall today, 2,977 in all.

The flags were placed by Peter Parente, a Desert Storm veteran, with the help of volunteers.

Parente also installed two towering beams of light, similar to those at Ground Zero.

"I want people to drive by and see it and it to draw them here," said Parente.

The display will remain for a month and will serve as the backdrop for Sunday's Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony at city hall.
