WC lawmakers look for outage solutions following Irene

Westchester County lawmakers say they're working toward finding a solution to prevent future power problems during a major storm.

County officials gathered in White Plains today for an energy meeting with Con Edison and NYSEG to discuss outages after Hurricane Irene left nearly 100,000 homes and businesses in the dark for almost a week.

Con Edison said that everything it learned from Irene will be applied in the winter when snow may bring down power lines. NYSEG also admitted that the company did not have enough resources to handle the storm because it didn't expect such widespread damage.
