Mayor Young concedes as counting continues in Mt. Vernon primary

Mount Vernon Mayor Clinton Young has conceded defeat in the Democratic primary for mayor, but it remains unknown who the victor is.

The race is in a near dead heat between former Mount Vernon Mayor Ernest Davis and Comptroller Maureen Walker.

Young has pledged his support for whoever is eventually named the winner of the primary.

Whoever wins is virtually guaranteed to become the next mayor of Mount Vernon since there is no major opposition challenge for the general election on Nov. 8.
