Davis pulls ahead of Walker in Mt. Vernon mayoral primary

Former Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis now appears to be one step closer toward getting his old job back.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Davis now has 36 percent of the votes in comparison to Comptroller Maureen Walker's 35 percent, with only 109 votes separating the two candidates.

Officials say there are only 62 absentee ballots left to be counted. Walker's camp says it also wants to look at about 200 ballots the board disqualified on Election Day.

The official winner of the primary won't emerge until Tuesday, when the Board of Elections certifies the results.
