Rivera gets 602nd save in Yankees win over Twins

(AP) - Mariano Rivera has set the major league recordwith his 602nd save, closing out the New York Yankees' 6-4 win overthe Minnesota Twins on Monday.

With fans standing and cheering from his first pitch in theninth, Rivers retired Trevor Plouffe, Michael Cuddyer and ChrisParmelee to end it. Parmelee looked at strike three as the stadiumroared in approval.

The 41-year-old Rivera tied Trevor Hoffman with save No. 601 onSaturday in Toronto. The Yankees lost Sunday, putting Rivera inline to get the milestone in the Yankees' last homestand of theseason.
