County Exec. Astorinio meets with realtors over high home prices

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino (R) hosted a luncheon yesterday with local realtors over dropping home sales in the region. Westchester homeowners face the highest property taxes in the nation, and sales are down 16 percent from last year, according to the Westchester Putnam Association of Realtors. Astorino says he is aware of the problem, and that his administration is attempting to make home buying easier for prospective residents. "I'm trying to let them know we're working very hard to make sure that we pair down county government and taxes," he said. Real estate sources say the median price for a home in Westchester is about $622,000.
