Catholic schools hope to fill Pre-K void

Local Catholic schools could fill a void after budget cuts have put 500 Yonkers children on a waiting list for Pre-K classes this fall.

Timothy McNiff, the New York Archdiocese school superintendent, says he wants parents to know students do not have to be Catholic to apply.

"We just wanted to make sure they knew there was another option because we have space available. If we didn't go an extra step to make sure these families knew, then shame on us," he says.

Tuition for a Catholic Pre-K program can cost between $3,500 to more than $6,000 a year. Archdiocese of New YorkNY Catholic Schools Finder
