Woman remains in critical condition after Stony Point house fire

A Stony Point woman remains in critical condition after her clothing caught on fire while she was cooking at her house on Monday.

Mary Minella, 62, was rescued at around 11 p.m. by 15-year veteran volunteer firefighter Curtis Wicks and his fellow firefighters. Two police officers, the first to arrive on the scene, suffered smoke inhalation after trying to get inside the burning multi-family home.

Minella, who was found on the floor of the second story unconscious and badly burned, was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was put in a medically induced coma at the Westchester Medical Center burn unit.
