Elementary school on alert after threat

Police say that an elementary school in Yonkers got off to a frightening start today after a student allegedly threatened to bring a weapon to school.

The child said she was going to bring a gun to the Pearls Hawthorne School, but officials say that she may not have even shown up today. Police are now investigating, and say that the threat is not credible at this point. Someone who had heard the threat tipped off the school and that prompted the investigation.

No weapon was found.
