Man back in custody after jumping from patrol car

A suspect is back in custody tonight after he jumped out the back window of a patrol car on the Bronx River Parkway.

Authorities say the man was being escorted from The Bronx into Westchester to answer to forgery charges out of White Plains when he wriggled out of his handcuffs while the car was at a red light.

The escape caused a brief manhunt involving dozens of cops combing through the woods near the parkway. Police say that he was apprehended 10 minutes later at the Crestwood Metro-North station in Tuckahoe.
