Man survives being hit by train while laying on tracks

Police say a man who was run over by a train at the Mount Vernon train station earlier this morning will live to tell the tale.

The incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. at the Fleetwood station, located at 1 North MacQuesten Parkway.

MTA officials say that a 30-year-old Bronx resident, who was allegedly intoxicated, was walking between the tracks when he tripped and fell face first onto the ground. They say he fell in a space where the train was able to roll right over him.

The man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with only minor injuries to his head and face.

According to officials, the train was coming from Grand Central Station and had about 150 passengers on it at the time of the accident. This is the third time someone has been struck by a Metro-North train this past week.
