Iraq War memorial for soldiers' mothers rededicated in Yonkers

An Iraq War memorial in Yonkers has been rededicated to honor the mothers of soldiers killed overseas. The monument represents Gold Star Mothers, who lost their sons or daughters overseas since hostilities started in 2003. "We need to honor these great women that come here today, and the fathers who also play a very vital role in raising the children of today," Daniel Morea, of Veterans Services, said. The memorial was moved from Larkin Plaza to an area near Main Street and Buena Vista Avenue due to a construction project. Once construction is complete, the memorial will be moved back to its original site.
