Briarcliff Manor sinkhole partially repaired

One stretch of the North State Road in Briarcliff Manor has been partially reopened after Tropical Storm Irene's damage shut it down.

Officials say the storm created a sinkhole where North State Road links up Route 9A to Pleasantville Road.

Village Manager Philip Zegarelli says Briarcliff Manor has essentially been cut in half, since the road had to be closed.

Zegarelli says one lane in each direction is a temporary fix. The village is seeking funds from several sources including FEMA to complete the repairs.

Officials say the price tag for the final repair may be more than $400,000 and take up to six months to finish.
