Bus service cut for some Yonkers students

The Yonkers school budget crisis continues with bus service being cut for some students, who now realize they will have a very long daily commute this year.

Students will have to join other teens riding the county Bee-Line buses. Some say that what used to be a half-hour ride, will now be an hour or more each way.

Cutting the bus service will save the district more than $800,000 at a time when programs are scaled back and teachers laid off.

As a result of the bus changes at Yonkers High School, the Bee-Line bus system is meeting with the school district to review bus plans.
