Man stabs woman leaving choir practice in Mt. Vernon

Police are interviewing witnesses after a woman leaving choir practice was stabbed in Mount Vernon last night.

Police say as the 53-year-old woman was stabbed just before 9 p.m. as she was leaving the Greater Centennial Ame Zion Church on South 8th Avenue.

According to police, the woman was stabbed in the upper back by the attacker. They believe she knew the man.

Neighbors say it's just the latest example of crime in the area.

No arrests have been made, and police say they are currently interviewing witnesses and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
