Man arrested in Mount Vernon choir practice stabbing

Mount Vernon police have arrested a 38-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a woman in her 50s as she was leaving choir practice.

After a multi-city chase, police say 38-year-old Jonathan Green surrendered and is now charged with attempted murder for trying to stab his ex-girlfriend, 53-year-old Sharon Winston, to death as she was leaving choir rehearsal at the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church on South 8th Avenue.

Winston is recovering at Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to be OK.
