Wake held for Harrison town clerk

Dozens of friends and family members are remembering Harrison?s town clerk tonight as a man who overcame a life full of challenges with a positive attitude.

Loved ones gathered in Mamaroneck at the wake for 30-year-old Joe Acocella, who died of kidney failure on Monday.

Acocella was elected in 2007, becoming the youngest person in state history to hold the seat. Those who knew him say he was a role model and inspiration because of everything he accomplished, despite his handicap and health problems.

The Harrison municipal building will be closed until noon tomorrow to allow all town workers to attend Acocella?s funeral at St. Gregory?s Church.
