Miss New York USA pageant to held in Westchester

Westchester is rolling out the red carpet for Miss USA. For the first time in more than 30 years the Miss New York USA, and Miss New York Teen pageants will be held in Westchester County.

Samantha Gold, of Armonk, who won last year's teen pageant, and Christina DeLeon, of Yorktown Heights, who won Miss Westchester were both on hand at the 42 Restaurant in White Plains to make the announcement. They say the beauty competitions have changed their lives.

County Executive Rob Astorino says the pageants will bring the county some much needed tax revenue next winter.

The current Miss USA, Alyssa Campenella, of California, is busy getting ready for the upcoming Miss Universe pageant next month, but stopped by to give the next generation of competitors some friendly advice.

The Miss New York and Miss New York Teen competitions will be held at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center Jan. 13-15.
