Parents of missing student ask for help as new semester begins

It's been two and a half months since Lauren Spierer disappeared, but her parents refuse to give up hope.

They spoke out publicly today for the first time in weeks as police are now searching an Indiana landfill.

Spierer, a 20-year-old Edgemont native and Indiana University student, vanished June 3 after a night out near her school.

"We're hoping whoever knows anything about Lauren's disappearance, someone coming back for the new semester, could help us," says Lauren's father, Robert Spierer.

Police in Bloomington, Ind. have investigated several possibilities for her disappearance, including an abduction, possible cocaine overdose or a freak accident involving her friends.
