Anti-gang meeting held in Yonkers

Even after last week's police raid, community leaders agree it will take a strategic effort by the whole community to take down what they say is an all-out gang war in Yonkers.

At a meeting for the Yonkers Violence and Gang Prevention Coalition held yesterday at the Nepperhan Community Center, members compared the situation to chess, saying strategy will bring an end to the city's gang violence. Leaders also called on the police to provide more consistent pressure, and Yonkers police say they're not letting up.

Despite the joint raid by the FBI and Yonkers police, it's estimated that more 20 gangs remain active in the city.
