Safety at Ridge Hill concerns Yonkers Firefighters Union

The head of the Yonkers Firefighters Union is bringing up concerns about a lack of firehouse at the Ridge Hill Complex.

The developer, Forest City Ratner, is expected to build a brand new firehouse on the property, which is city-owned. However, the city has not been able to close a deal on the building, which means the Yonkers Fire Department is responsible for calls to the area.

According to the union's president, Barry McGoey, the average response time for the Yonkers Fire Department is four minutes. He says it can take up to seven minutes to get to the complex.

A spokesman for the developer says it intends to live up to its commitment to the city.
