Former Gov. Pataki reportedly considering run for president

While the presidential election is still over a year away, former Gov. George Pataki (R-N.Y.) is looking to throw his hat into the ring and run for president.

The three-term governor is reportedly eyeing entering the already-crowded race on the Republican side.

Republican political analyst Tony Sayegh says Pataki shouldn't be underestimated, citing his appeal to moderates and the fact that he defeated Gov. Mario Cuomo (D-N.Y.), who was championed as the king of Democratic politics in New York.

Pataki may announce his plans as early as this week.
