Verizon workers back at work without contract deal

Verizon workers are now back at work after ending their strike without a deal.

About 45,000 union employees across the East Coast went on strike on Aug. 7, fighting management demands for contract givebacks. At issue is the company's declining landline business in an age of mobile phones.

While there is still no contract in place, the union has agreed to go back to work while it continues to negotiate with Verizon officials.
