Family of Pomona murder victim calls for justice

As Haverstraw police continue their investigation into who murdered Jason Ognenoff, family and friends gathered in West Nyack for his wake, where they called for the killer to be brought to justice.

"There are monsters out there who did this to him," said his sister Nicole Owens, who added that her brother's death has destroyed their family. Ognenoff, 37, was found stabbed to death in his Pomona apartment, which was then set on fire to destroy evidence, according to investigators.

Relatives say severe muscle and nerve damage in his left arm would have made it impossible to fight off an attacker.

Haverstraw police are asking for anyone with tips to contact them, along with anyone who saw Ognenoff in the final days before he was murdered.

Ognenoff?s funeral is set for tomorrow.
